Shenton Park
This intimate and modern eatery is French sophistication embodied. Using only the freshest and finest ingredients, chef Todd Stuart will delight and surprise you with his thoughtfully curated small plates, which explode with colour and flavour. The ‘small plate’ dining concept means you get to sample lots of different flavours in one meal—you can choose from either the three course set menu or the 10 course degustation (treat yo’ self). The perfect balance between exclusivity and earthliness, Petit Mort cannot be overlooked for the French food lover.
Chez Pierre
Nedlands
For an authentic experience, look no further than French restaurant Chez Pierre in Nedlands. With a classic interior reminiscent of the brasseries of Paris, this place is relaxed fine dining at it’s best. The chef offers up a la carte, degustation and weekly regional tasting menus, but you don't need to look much further than the soufflé au Fromage—a soufflé of gruyere, blue cheese and parmesan—to know you need to make a booking ASAP.
Bistro Des Artistes
Subiaco
This gorgeous French restaurant sitting pretty on Hay Street deserves way more attention than it gets. With one of the best pork terrine’s going around and a seriously delicious duck confit, Bistro Des Artistes is an immediate favourite. Chef Alain Fabregues was awarded Meilleur Ouvrier de France (or Best Craftsman of France) in 1991 in the cuisine category, so you should probably go eat there!
P’tite Ardroise Bistro
Perth
P’tite Ardroise Bistro is casual gourmet dining done right. With a changing menu that features lots of items made ‘the chef’s way’, you know you’re in for something unique. They’ve got all the French classics—escargot, soufflé, steak tartare—and they’ve got a dedicated cheese menu!
Bistro Guillaume
Burswood
A more modern interpretation of Parisian bistros, Bistro Guillaume draws heavily upon its riverside resort location and features a fresh, colourful interior full of natural light. The ‘dishes for two’ menu makes this place a perfect choice for intimate dining or date night, and the Chateaubriand (basically just a really big, thick cut steak) is crazy good.
Bistro Felix
Subiaco
While not solely dedicated to French food (the menu boasts a delicious menu of modern European food), Bistro Felix certainly offers up some delicious French-inspired fare. With a tantalising charcuterie section on the menu, as well as a spectacular duck leg confit and the never-fail side of duck fat potatoes, this place will not disappoint when you need a French fix.
Blackbird Restaurant
East Perth
Nestled into a beautiful quiet spot by the river in East Perth, Blackbird Restaurant is serious about using only the best seasonal and local produce possible—and their menu is to die for. They’ve got all the favourites like croquettes, chicken liver parfait and shoe string frites, not to mention a $29 three-cheese tasting platter for desert. The perfect place for wine lovers, Blackbird hosts cellar nights with BYO on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, so you can bring along that bottle you’ve been wanting to crack and let the chef do the rest.
Bloody French
Subiaco
Tucked into the southern end of Rokeby Road, Bloody French is a warm and welcoming restaurant that sort of feels like home. The menu is seasonal but always features delicious interpretations of French classics, including snails a la bourguignone for the adventurous types (or for people who are actually French). The best thing about this place? Apart from the food, they have a fire going in winter!
Fillaudeau’s
Caversham
Set in the beautiful Swan Valley, surrounded by blue skies, grapevines and bushland, Fillaudeau’s is well worth a visit, even if you don’t live nearby. Enjoy a delicious, French-inspired lunch over a nice bottle of wine as you take in all that is our incredible Swan Valley region as you exclaim to your friends how crazy it is that ‘we don’t come out here more often’, and that ‘it’s actually not even that far away’.
