The Aviation Club de France is widely regarded as one of France’s most legendary poker rooms. The main games played at the Aviation club were baccarat, poker and backgammon.
According to reports, numerous members of the French poker community tried to keep the poker room open, but to no avail. Some are worried about the fate of other French card rooms.

2014 WSOP Hall of Fame nominee Bruno Fitoussi (not accused of any involvement in the Aviation Club de France bust) introduced Texas hold’em to France in 1995 at the club.
The simple game
For the game to start, the player must place his bet on one of the three possible wagers: “banco” means that he plays with the bank, “punto” means that he plays for the “ponte” against the bank, “tie” means that he wagers that the bank’s hand and the “ponte”’s hand will be the same.
Before the start of the game, the croupier draws a card and turns it over. The value of this card (face cards are worth 10 for this operation) indicates the number of cards that will “burned” before starting the game.
The croupier then deals a card, face down, on the “punto” and one on the “banco”. He deals a second one on each of these cards. Once the cards have been dealt, they are turned over in order to count their total value.
IF PUNTO OR BANCO ARE WORTH 8 OR 9 no more cards are dealt. There will be no additional draw for these two combinations.
The croupier then compares the 2 hands placed in front of him:
Punto has the highest score, PUNTO wins
Banco has the highest score, BANCO wins
Punto and Banco have the same score: TIE
NEITHER PUNTO OR BANCO SHOWS AN 8 OR A 9, Punto is dealt a third card if the total of its game is equal to 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. With a total of 6 or 7, Punto does not draw a third card (it is said that it stands).
Banco is then dealt a third card according to its own game and the Punto game. The possible hands are as follows:
Banco has a total of 7, he does not draw a third card (it is said that Banco stands).
Banco has a total of 0, 1, or 2, he systematically draws a third card.
